Independent Living Specialist/Minority OutreachGoal 1: Outreach into the Spanish speaking community to assist with increased access to Independent Living Services and assist with direct service provision that supports individual goals related to increased independence. Outreach Duties: § Provide language assistance to enable consumer to access Center services, including in consumers’ homes and at the OSCIL office. § Assist in the development of Center informational materials in Spanish. § Identify appropriate publications to target underserved populations. § Participate in informational displays, presentations and exhibits at community centers, senior citizens centers and other locations serving minority populations. Goal 2: To establish and work with consumers to address personal goals for increased independence, including assisting with housing goals, i.e., new locations and/or maintaining independence in their current residential setting. Duties: § Evaluate/assess the independent living needs of persons with disabilities who contact OSCIL, and set priorities for service provision. § Work with consumers to address accessible housing goals; search for accessible, affordable housing, as well as provide coordination and assistance with OSCIL’s Home Access Program to keep people in the home of their choice. § Provide monthly and quarterly reports to the Program Director. § Other duties as indicated by the Program Director or Executive Director. Qualifications: · Must be bilingual – Spanish · Occupational Therapist Assistant Certification · Must have a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel statewide. · Possess excellent written and oral communication skills. · Must be able to work independently and ability to set priorities for task accomplishment. · 2 to 3 years work experience in minority outreach preferred.

Occupational Therapist Assistant (Per Diem Position)
Job Description: Assist persons with severe disability in obtaining assistive technology/adaptive equipment and home modifications. Duties: Conduct in-home intakes and assessments of consumers requesting Assistive Technology, Home Modifications and/or general home safety assessments; assist consumers in identifying alternative funding sources for the purchase of devices and/or home modifications; complete documentation as may be required for funding source. Complete necessary paperwork required for the attainment of AT/Home Modification. Keep accurate, up-to-date consumer records, including all documentation required by OSCIL and referral source. Other duties as assigned by the Program Director or Executive Director. Qualifications: § Occupational Therapist Assistant training preferred, but not required. § Possess driver’s license and reliable vehicle for home visits. § Possess knowledge of available assistive technology/devices available to persons with disability. § Ability to work independently and possess skill at setting priorities for task accomplishment. § Possess knowledge of disability related issues either through previous work or personal experience. § Some knowledge of home modifications and understanding of architectural drawings is helpful. § Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills as demonstrated by previous work experience to accurately convey needs of consumer and articulate issues. § Must be computer literate; knowledge of Microsoft Office software helpful. Salary: Per Diem reimbursement will be determined by experience, credentials, and financial consideration of OSCIL. Hours: To be negotiated (approximately 9 – 12 hours per week)
