Clearing
House for
Accessible Rental Housing
The
program is made possible through a
grant from the RI Statewide Independent Living Council
Welcome to
OSCILs Clearing House for Accessible Rental Housing.
What does
the housing registry do?
It makes possible the review of accessible rental property that is
available in Rhode Island.
Persons having disability who are seeking accessible housing
are encouraged to review site listings.
Landlords who have
accessible rental property can list available units on the web-site
(free of charge) in order to connect with persons having
disabilities
who are looking for accessible rentals.
Persons with disabilities who are searching for accessible
housing will now have an easy way to locate properties.
OSCIL's
Housing Assistance Program
The Ocean State
Center for Independent Living (OSCIL) serves Rhode Islanders with
disabilities. As a Center whose mission is to address barriers to
independence, we provide extensive advocacy and outreach into the
community to assist people with disabilities to locate the residence
of their choice, i.e., apartment, assisted living facility, or
accessible home.
OSCIL's housing
program also assists individuals to overcome personal barriers to
independence, including information, assessment, and acquisition
assistance for assistive devices to increase independence in the
home. In addition, OSCIL manages a home modification program
(construction of ramps, accessible bathrooms, etc,) to facilitate
self reliance in the home.
We welcome the
opportunity to meet with Realtors to provide further information on
this innovative program. Please feel free to contact Hal
Fayerweather, OSCIL's Housing Advocate, at 738-1013.
