Nursing Home Transition
One of the core functions of the Ocean State Center for Independent Living is to minimize the institutionalization of people with disability. We do this by help people with disabilities to move from facilities like nursing homes to a living arrangement of their choice in the community. We also work to prevent people with disabilities from entering these institutions in the first place.
The Ocean State Center for Independent Living (OSCIL) can help seniors and adults with disabilities transition from a nursing facility back into the community—either to their own home or apartment or to the home of a relative or friend.
Officially named the Community Living Option Program, our Nursing Home Transition program has been assisting persons with disability to re-enter community-based living arrangements for many years.
